What the fuck is up, perverts?! Emo-fuckin’-clew to the 4th volume of the Punk-Hop Edition of Monday Morning Aural fuckin’ Sex! No need for an overly elaborate fuckin’ intro here. Apologies, but I again yearn fiercely for the comfort of bed, and I again fell prey to procrastination. Anyway, y’all oughta know what to expect here right from the name. This will alternate from hip-hop to punk one after the other, there’s stuff here from all over the fuckin’ world, and only a handful of tracks are plucked from previous editions. Fuck! What are you perverts doing here?! I thought I told you not to listen to this ‘cause you’re gonna hate it! *sigh* Well, I guess for being such marvelously deviant little perverts, defying your aural sex daddy and all, I gueeeesss I should emo-fuckin’-clew you all to the PreBananaPostMouseProtoSchirachPolkaNapkinAlienPunkCrustPopSatanHopExtremeSoftStyleHardCore Edition of Monday Morning Aural fuckin’ Sex! I won’t gab, yammer and/or jibber jabber long here because I long for the comfort of nudity and my bed right now, suffice to say, holiest of holy fucks do we have quite the fucktacular compilation ahead of us all.
A good portion of these are actually new finds, although I pulled a bunch from previous editions, not just editions with the suffix “core,” in them. These editions are both some of my absolute favorites to make, and some of the fuckin’ easiest to compile. I don’t particularly give 47/123rds of a squirrel turd whether y’all are into breakcore or not; I fuckin’ love the absolute fuck out of it. It’s one of the only music genres next to IDM that accurately illustrates the often frenetic & erratic ways I think; the way many people think, for that matter. Also, this edition has way more beyond breakcore from hard dance, dubstep, drumstep, UK hardcore, psytrance, J-core, IDM, and those are only some of the more identifiable genres. Most of these motherfuckers blur genre boundaries as instinctually as taking a piss. Cases in point, both Doormouse & Otto Von Schirach are so preposterously diverse, they’re basically their own respective genres. That’s why I typically include them in the titles of editions like these.
Any-fuckin’-way, I said I would cut the fuckin’ yammering, and so I shall right here except to wish you a merry fuckin’ yojne.

Fuck is up the what, fuckermothers?! Emo-muthafuckin’-clew to the Are You The New Blue Shih Tzu Who Threw The Gnu Bamboo Statue Through Taboo Shrew Kazoo Voodoo in '22? Edition of Monday Morning Aural fuckin’ Sex! What in the most holy of nipple-calcifying fuck is all that foofaraw about? Just new shit I found this week. If you trust my taste at all, you might find a jam or 10, or 20, or 50 that might tickle your meaty little fancy. So, last week I mentioned having some thoughts on Stranger Things season 4. First of all, I feel compelled to address the maddening fucking fact that Running Up That Hill has been on motherfucking loop in my goddamn head all week since I put it near the start of last week’s podcast. Fantastic song and everything, but Jesus, sometimes I like to think about other songs too. Ya know?
Anyway, yeah, it occurred to me after finishing season 4 that a lot of what’s happened throughout the show could be interpreted as representations of mental illnesses. Vecna reminded me heavily of the shadow of futility that I wrote about back in 2018; this burdensome feeling of futility that’s so prevalent sometimes, it feels like an actual presence weighing on all the best parts of you. In case you might be curious, here’s what I said:
I know that shadow well. It has stalked me through my imagination for most of my life. It's the sense of futility that stains every poem or song I ever wrote, every picture I ever took, and especially every time anyone was insane enough to try loving me. I have never even once felt like I deserved to be loved, but I accepted it as best I could whenever it stumbled into my life.
I tried hard every single day to ignore that shadow; to project some sort of confidence because I was always told how unattractive insecurity is. I tried to work towards some sort of future despite mostly just wanting to die. This shadow is the reason I stopped posting on social media, why I stopped doing my podcast, and why I have actively avoided any sort of romantic interaction with anyone for years now.
I see this shadow in people all around me. I see it telling others to kill themselves. I see it behind their smiles, like patient vultures waiting to feed. I've watched it perfectly wear the faces of friends and lovers, and brazenly lock my eyes to its own; to speak those things and more until my desperate heart fractures yet again, and my knees buckle to the dirt where it reminds me I belong.
And in the silence, I agree. I've occasionally heard voices around me telling me otherwise, but I can't tell the difference between the real people and the shadow anymore. It has fooled me so thoroughly so many times, and I can no longer trust my own judgment. I have no choice but to lock myself away in my nice, cold, dark room. Waiting, and waiting, and waiting... I would have ended this shit myself a long time ago, but I can't leave my mother with the burden of burying her only son. I also know that would only set the shadow free to feed on the souls of my friends and family. So, we will wait together right here in this room. Safe little prisoners, together forever.
Whatever.
Sounds a lot like Vecna to me. This monstrosity that never lets you forget all the times you fucked up, just waiting for its chance to cripple you and consume your soul. Incidentally, by soul, I just mean the essence of who you are as a person; essentially your consciousness, which to me is pretty much synonymous with soul. But yeah, not just haunting you with your mistakes, but with the passage of time as you keep waiting to heal. They say time heals all wounds, and yet so many wounds continue to hurt for years, even decades after they’re inflicted.
Anyway, yeah, the upside down very much made me think of the distorted ways in which we perceive the world under the overbearing influence of depression. Everything’s in the same place, but nothing really works (except electricity and lights). Things feel colder, darker, like there’s danger lurking around any and every corner. There’s ash in the air just like there’s pollution in ours, which of course compounds the depression. It would also make sense that Eleven would be able to open gates to that world considering her deeply traumatic past.
David and Joyce fighting the demogorgon, not to mention fighting out of prison, I could see that as two heavily concerned parents supporting their loved ones through the darkness (mental illness) that threatened them, considering that’s pretty much literally what happened. Fighting out of prison could perhaps be a representation of the obstacles they had to overcome to understand the threat that faced them all. Again, basically what happened.
As far as the Mind Flayer, I could see him being a representation of fear itself and the way it controls you, especially when you’re of a more vulnerable nature (as Will was, being timid and alone in a terrifying alternate dimension). I could see Eleven banishing that fear at the end of season 2 with reassurance, love, etc., especially considering the friendship that developed between her and Will throughout the events of the show. The show has been very heavy on the power of friendship, love, family, community, which are obviously all things that make it damn near impossible for depression and fear to exist. Possible, certainly, but far more difficult.
Anyway, that’s just my partial interpretation. I’m sure I could expand on it if I gave it some more thought. I’ll probably re-watch the series before season 5, too. Maybe I’ll discuss further interpretations then. Why don’t I go a-fuckin’-head and talk about the mother-cunting music already, huh? What’d’ya fuckin’ say? Okay, so new Combichrist comin’ at us. Nice surprise on the Radar this week. Haven’t really kept up with them over the past decade or so, but I still love what I’ve heard. Have been keepin’ up with Architects, though. Another new jam from them this week called tear gas. All lowercase, of which I don’t yet understand the appeal, but it’s all good. The song, much like the band, really kicks the llama’s ass, just like Winamp.
That Stooges track isn’t entirely new; just this particular live version. I don’t normally care much for live versions, but this one hit pretty well. TV Eye’s a fuckin’ awesome song, and you’re about to hear for yourselves. Another fire track from LLLLNNNN. Gonna have to figure out some way to pronounce that shit at some point. Dude’s pretty talented with his hard dance jams. That Dead Cross band? That’s yet another Mike Patton side project. I swear, the man doesn’t know how to relax, and I love the fuck out of him for it. That one has quite an… interesting video. Look it up if you’re so intrigued. Man, that Billie Eilish song TV was kinda rough. I’m probably super late to the party, but that seemed like an abnormally emotional departure compared to her other singles. I dunno, there’s always the possibility I’m full of manure. Great track though.
Another new Heilung track?! Yes indeed, we are spoiled, selfish little creatures. We are not worthy, and yet, there they are. I jest, hopefully obviously, but good lord they are a phenomenal group. Quite likely my favorite find since maybe Nostalghia. Holy. Fuck. A Heilung/Nostalghia concert would be just… I would be a fucking weeping puddle of goo. Anyway, love this new Slushii & Tokyo Machine track called PEW PEW. The samples are hilarious. Another fantastic jam from GRiZ, who to the best of my knowledge is one of the only gay dubstep DJs out there. Admittedly, my knowledge on that isn’t so great, I dunno. Really been lovin’ his stuff though. Another mind-blowing track by Berried Alive, of course. That’s another man who has zero chill, and fuck, it’s fuckin’ astounding. Go look that motherfucker up on Instagram and you’ll see what I mean.
Wait, what’s this? A new Slipknot song?! Yes, indeed! I, uh, I think I need to listen to this one louder, and driving fast in my car at night or something. There’s something that bugs me about this track, but I haven’t quite identified it, or determined if it’s just in my head. The jury’s still out, but they ordered Chinese, or some shit. Moving on, this cover of Ginuwine’s, “Pony,” by Razakel? *chef’s kiss* I found Razakel when I tried looking up Molly Gruesome on Spotify, and I loved the song I found, so I ended up following her too. I do greatly miss Molly Gruesome, but I hope she’s happier doing whatever it is she’s been doing since she retired. Anyway, a remix here of one of my all-time favorite Dabin tracks, “Hope It Hurts.” I can 100% relate to those lyrics, and I’m sure countless others can as well. Don’t sleep on Dabin, motherfuckers. Dude’s got some fantastic melodic progressions, and some greatly emotional lyrics.
Oooo, oh my, I was so happy to hear this Pola & Bryson track called Tell You What I Did. Lemme tell you, a liquid cover of the classic Tweet song, “Oops (Oh My).” Well, it’s classic to me. You might say I have bad taste, to which I’d say fuck you, let people like shit. Also, I probably like a good amount of shit you like too. I just listen to a broader range of shit. Yes, I literally plug headphones into fecal matter and listen to shit. Of course. Man, it’s been a minute or three since I played anything by Dieselboy or The Glitch Mob, but lo and behold, we’ve got some new shit to look forward to. Not entirely sure how new they are, but they’re new to me and this podcast, so fuck you.
And now, to conclude this fucking Tolstoy of an intro, I bid you all adieu and merry yojne.

What the fuck is up, perverts? Emo-fuckin’-clew to the 8th volume of the Chill The Fuck Out Edition of Monday Morning Aural fuckin’ Sex! To be perfectly frank, I don’t have the energy to write another of my usual long intros right now. Been exceptionally depressed this past weekend, and more than most things right now, I just wanna crawl back in bed. Real quick, though, if you think this opening track isn’t anything to chill the fuck out to, I kindly direct your attention to the middle of the song; some of the chillest music in all of music. And yes, I did love the 4th season of Stranger Things. I have a number of thoughts about it that I’ll elaborate on at some later date. New fuckin’ Heilung track in this bitch too, btw. About half this podcast is comprised of tracks from older editions, other half is all new fucktacularity.
All that said, fuckin’ yojne!

What's up, perverts?! This week, we're flashing back to the very beginning. I'm not sure how many of you heard the first one when I put it up on Soundcloud, but it's not there anymore. Anyway, the reason I named this podcast Monday Morning Aural Sex is 'cause, well, who wouldn't love "aural sex," on a Monday morning? Doesn't that just make the grind of the work week so much less irritating? I think so. Do you know the difference between "fan," and "fanatic?" Well, according to my Mac dictionary, "fan" is someone with a strong interest in or admiration for something; "fanatic" is someone with an obsessive interest or enthusiasm for something. Which would you consider yourself? Do you primarily listen to music you know; stuff you know you like already? Or do you often find yourself venturing outside of your comfort zone to discover new and exciting stuff? I say, life's just too damn short to sit around listening to couch music. I say, be adventurous. Be adamantly curious; insatiably hungry, because there's a LOT of really great music out there that'll probably never be heard by the mainstream or granted the respect and attention it deserves. So, without any further ado, enjoy the very first installment of Monday Morning Aural Sex!

*fucking sigh* Well, here we are again: July the stupid fucking 4th. Speaking of which, emo-fuckin’-clew to the Fuck the Fourth Edition of Monday Morning Aural Sex. Anyway, yeah, July 4th. Anytime I see anyone unironically celebrating this moronic fucking holiday, I just cannot. Do you fucking nitwits somehow not realize this holiday is about a bunch of wealthy slaveowners declaring themselves free? Not to mention after their ancestors and they slaughtered, raped and/or exiled Native Americans as well? Oh, I’m sure there are a great many notable nuances that I’m dubiously omitting, but it’s whatever. As if you’d ever hear any of the words spilling from my face chasm anyway. If it’s my fate to perpetually preach to the choir, so be it, I guess.
Obviously, this “holiday,” brings up a lot of venom in me. I look at this miserable fucking country celebrating its freedom, and I’m hopelessly perplexed, because the vast majority of us only know freedom for its most brutally indifferent aspects. First of all, no freedom exists without some degree of responsibility, without even just some minuscule consequence; there is no absolute freedom except death, and even that’s arguable. The myriad cadres of pitifully transparent nincompoops who delusionally proclaim freedom divorced of responsibility, especially freedom of speech, they’ll 180 on a dime to claim victimhood should they ever be “censored,” and especially to censor whatever speech they dislike. Remember, the so-called thought leaders engaging in that foofaraw are only in it to siphon money from the troglodytic nimrods who drink their Kool-Aid to own the libs, or whatever other astoundingly idiotic reason they might conjure up.
Let me be perfectly clear, however, I don’t condemn the gullible, uneducated rubes who waded a little ways into the skeptic pool only to get pulled under by their whirlpools of bullshit. We’re all desperate for truth in a pea soup, palpable fucking haze and maddening cacophony of distractions and outright fuckin’ lies. I don’t blame anyone of good faith, compassion and empathy for being misled, especially considering the deliberately piss poor state of public education. I take no pleasure in insulting them, but so long as they conduct themselves as enemies of progress, obstructing the paths to better lives we could be building together, I just don’t have the patience to attempt communication with them. It’s exceptionally difficult to create with those who seek to destroy, especially when the time we have left in which this planet is still fucking habitable is so goddamn, fucking limited. Like, get the motherfuck out of the mother-cunting way so that we can all just exist on this dirtball spinning through this indifferent universe. Obviously, it’s more complex an issue than that, but it’s whatever.
If I ever actually changed anyone’s mind with rants like these, I’d be fucking astonished. I just want to say fuck the fourth primarily because this is a country of brazenly shameless hypocrisy, callously broken promises of meritocracy, utterly psychotic and suicidal greed, corruption, religious mania, blind devotion to the pursuit of power simply for superiority instead of benevolence and charity, and myriad additional maladies. I see patriotism for the country in this condition as handing out participation trophies. Superficial patriotism, mind you. Actual patriotism includes concern and criticism whenever and wherever fair to do so, and all I see is hopeless Stockholm syndrome from those who drape themselves in red, white & blue every year. No thoughtful acknowledgement, no proposed solutions, just pointless fucking nostalgia for ambiguous notions of better times with no recognition of how times got to be so fucking terrible.
Either that, or they point their fingers wherever their right-wing overlords suggest they should, without any critical thought about whether or not it’s actually accurate. I’ve been saying for years that the real enemy is above us all; we have so much more in common than ways in which we differ, and difference is one of the most consistently interesting and enriching aspects of life. But no, the simpletons must fear whatever they don’t understand! Anything different is a threat, for some reason! Progress is a zero-sum game, right? Those people can’t have equity or equality, because then you’d be somehow inferior. Fear is the name of the game, and boy is it an effective money vacuum. Land of the free, home of the brave… Fucking pathetic.
The extent of the atrocities inflicted upon the global populace under the banner of red, white & blue (and yes, we’re part of that), and then millions of dipshits have the gall to whine about immigrants, as if we have some preposterously misplaced birthright to the land our ancestors stole. I’m not saying every white person needs to pack their shit and move back to Europe (even though that sounds fucking amazing right now); I’m saying that without acknowledgement of our history, our future will just be a hopeless, downward fucking spiral into apathetic and imbecilic oblivion.
Any-fucking-way, I’m done. I said all I care to say for now. Many of these tracks will be familiar to y’all if you listen to my other sociopolitically-charged editions. Same with last week’s Confrontation Edition, only a handful of new jams, because the old stuff is still just far too pertinent to exclude. I kind of hate that, to be frank, despite not being Frank, whomever Frank may be. I hate that all these tracks from so many decades past are still pertinent to fights that continue to this fucking day, because all of our lives could be so much better than this. If we could just stop bickering over this, that and the other thing, we might actually be able to get some shit done around here. I genuinely do love this country, and I despise what a handful of maniacally greedy fuckheads have done to it; never mind what they’ll do to it in the near and distant future if we don’t straighten this shit out via the ballot box or the motherfucking guillotine.
All that said, yojne yourselves as much as you reasonably can today, and yojne the ever-loving fuck out of this edition as well.

Monday Jun 27, 2022
*sigh* Well, it finally fuckin’ happened, perverts. Roe v. Wade was overturned last Friday morning, and boy, have I got some shit to say about it. First though, emo-fuckin’-clew to the Confrontation Edition of Monday Morning Aural Sex! The name is a reference to both the Otep song, and a specific lyric in it: “They don’t know what they’ve started.” These motherfuckers really have no idea. The Trump supporters who didn’t sign up for fucking theocracy, the 100M+ eligible voters who sat at home on their fucking asses in 2016 and 2020, the shameless partisan hacks installed to the SCOTUS, the feckless fucking dems who twiddled their goddamn thumbs instead of codifying Roe, the soulless corporate shills who represent themselves and their bank accounts above all else, and especially the troglodytic fucking Christian twits who actually wanted this to happen. Y’all really have no fucking idea what you started…
It’s difficult to predict what will come of this; there are just so many variables. One thing is for sure though: more suffering. People who were already suffering will suffer even more, and people who weren’t will suffer too, eventually. The red states that have trigger laws banning abortion if Roe got overturned, any and all women in those states are now condemned to either carry pregnancies to term regardless of the circumstance, or death. Yeah, some pregnancies, if carried to term, will kill the mother through no fault of her own. No sympathy for them, apparently. No sympathy for girls and women forced to carry rapists’ babies, no sympathy for the poor who can’t afford children (or more than they already have), this egregious miscarriage of justice will have broad effects beyond its intended targets.
Imagine a family with a kid or two who’s suddenly surprised with another pregnancy. Can’t afford it? Too bad. Don’t want it? Well, fuck you. Guess you should’ve used condoms. Well, those might be going away soon too. You know what, though? In spite of all the misery this is likely to cause, I hope it so drastically reduces the birth rate that these fucking imbeciles are dumbstruck as to what’s happening. Then again, maybe de-population is the goal. Who fucking knows with these blithering fucking morons? I do know that both parties of our pitiful duopoly will continue to gleefully fundraise off of this. Anything to keep people afraid and confused, especially of other people, and most of all if they’re working class. Gotta keep the peasants quarreling so they never realize they have more in common than not. What if they organize into even MORE unions and threaten our beloved capitalistic stranglehold on the country? That’d be terrible for business, and we all know that businesses need to grow in perpetuity, even at the expense of habitability on this fucking planet.
This edition is dedicated to all of those people. To Nancy Pelosi who read us a poem after feigning shock over the SCOTUS’s decision, despite just having campaigned for an anti-choice incumbent democrat in Texas. To all the fucking idiots singing God Bless America in response to this. To all the miserable, delusional sacks of elephant excrement who are celebrating this and/or mocking those who are rightfully upset about it. That includes Phil fucking Labonte of All That Remains, as much as it breaks my heart. This fucking turd tweeted “hoes gonna be mad,” in response to this. My fucking god, perverts, I absolutely loved All That Remains. I had profound respect for all of their obvious talent, not least of which being Phil’s astounding range as a vocalist. Now? Fuck him. You have a considerably large platform being a singer in a pretty successful metal band, and what do you choose to do with it? “Hoes gonna be mad…” Fuck you, you heartless prick. I hope I get to see how this decision fucks with your life, because I can almost guarantee that it will along with countless others who made similarly idiotic statements.
Anyway, this edition is about more than just Roe. This is everything from climate change, police brutality, political corruption, exacerbated inequity, despairing poverty, gun violence that nobody seems to be willing to do much of anything about, LGBTQIA+ rights, encroaching fucking fascism, religious zealotry, et-fucking-cetera. There is one shamelessly hopeful song, however. Alllll the way at the end, and it’s about unions. Unions are one of the only ways we’re going to get anything fucking done around here so long as we have corrupt little puppets gumming up the works in D.C., blissfully doing the bidding of their corporate overlords. Most of these tracks should be familiar to you if you’re a regular listener as most of them were pulled from past editions, but there’s a handful of new tracks as well. Apologies if it seems lazy or unoriginal, but this is pretty much all I’ve been able to think about this weekend. I’ve been infuriated, terrified and deeply depressed about all this, and I would feel disingenuous releasing a podcast about anything else.
What’s even worse though is that they’re most likely going to strip even more rights away from people in the coming months and/or years, unless some sort of downright miraculous level of protesting occurs. This is our new fucking reality so long as we collectively accept it. Solidarity has seldom or never been more absolutely crucial than in these darkest of times. We’re being disposed of en masse by a preposterously powerful minority, and I despise the indoctrination we’ve all endured - both implicit and explicit - regarding the hyper-individualistic nature of this so-called society by which capitalists thrive, and we barely survive, if we’re lucky. We, the working class, are mere playthings to the wealthy. The ruling class keep pissing on us, and millions of people are bamboozled into believing it’s just fucking raining. Those people live under the hopeless delusion that they’re temporarily inconvenienced millionaires… Man, I don’t envy at all the rude awakening before the vast majority of them.
Lastly, because I really must stop fuckin’ rambling at some point, I know a number of these tracks have violent lyrics, and I really just don’t care. Violence is being inflicted upon countless people every day in the forms of starvation, homelessness, drug addiction, and now, the outlawing of abortion in half the country. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m tired of all this needless fucking suffering. We only keep enduring this because there aren’t enough people willing to object, and dammit, the reptilian brains in everyone can so easily go to violence when adequately provoked. I’m not advocating for any violence in particular, of course, but I certainly wouldn’t be sad witnessing great misfortune in the lives of those who torture us daily with their greed and inaction. Also, I love how I wrapped this intro up, started cutting tracks, and then came back to write an additional two long-ass paragraphs. I’m fuckin’ unbearable, perverts. How does anyone bear me, hmm? Fuckin’ roar.
Any-fuckin’-way, all that said, put your fucking fists in the air, march with your brothers and sisters, support those most affected by this however you can, and of course, fucking yojne.

2022-06-20 (All-Star Series: Ferry Corsten Edition)

What the fuck is up, perverts?! Emo-muthafuckin’-clew to another installment of the All-Star Series, the Ferry Corsten Edition! “Ferry who?” To which I say, get out of my fuckin’ house. Ferry Corsten is a legendary Dutch DJ/EDM artist - primarily focused on trance, but he’s flirted with a bunch of different styles over the years - with over 25 years worth of releases, 33 known aliases, 35 side projects, a phenomenal encyclopedia of mixes, remixes, albums, remix albums, EPs, singles, compilations, even a movie soundtrack and his own record label. Even having been a fan of his for over 2 decades now, I was astonished to see how much else I didn’t know about in putting this edition together. Honestly though, you’d probably have to be obsessed with the dude to keep track of all his releases. Seriously, check him out on Wikipedia, it’s fuckin’ bananas.
Anyway, I think this is the first DJ/EDM artist in the All-Star Series (or ASS, because of course) with the exception of The Prodigy and Infected Mushroom. I didn’t explicitly label the Infected Mushroom one as ASS, but it most definitely is an ASS edition. But yeah, those are groups, and Ferry’s mostly a solo artist. I will say though that Veracocha had some excellent potential. Veracocha is a group made up of Ferry Corsten and Vincent De Moor, and to the best of my knowledge, they’ve only ever released 2 tracks: Drafting and Carte Blanche. Drafting’s okay, but Carte Blanche? Holy hell, I still rock the fuck out of that jam 20 years later. Definitely have that one to look forward to in the near future if you keep listening. In fact, I’m pretty sure that song was my introduction to Ferry in the first place, a few years prior to his releasing anything under the name Ferry Corsten. That’s actually kinda wild to me; I don’t know how I got so lucky to have had his music in my life for so long, but it’s been the soundtrack to some of my favorite moments in life.
One was the song We Belong which I used for a slideshow of Sunny and Gacy after they were reuinted. Another was at a show of his in ’04 or ’06 in NYC. I danced all fuckin’ night ’til the very last song slowed to a halt, and if I recall correctly, that song was Carte Blanche. I think the show wrapped around 5 or something. Fuck, I miss dancing all night like that so much, perverts. Anyway, aside from all that, there was this girl in the crowd who was so beautifully enveloped in her own world as she sang the lyrics to Ferry Corsten’s song (appropriately titled) “Beautiful.” I don’t know exactly what it is, I just love to see people lost in their own little worlds, just lettin’ the music flow through them like that. Yet another of my favorite moments was seeing Ferry with my friend Shy, although I really wish we were there under better circumstances. We had to leave early, the club had a rigid dress code (thus forcing me to wear fuckin’ dress shoes), the drinks were expensive as 10 fucks in a glass made for 1, and just… yeah, wish it’d been better circumstances. Yet another of my favorite moments involving a Ferry Corsten song is when I used a clip of “Forever,” for a mock radio ad I did in college. It’s just a silly ad for a fictional local club, but it sounds legit as fuck, and it’s one of the best things I did in my years there, AND it was during the very first month.
I’ll also mention that every time I’ve seen Ferry, there’s been ample room to dance. Can’t fuckin’ say that about fuckin’ Tiësto, lemme tell ya. Gouryella be damned, I love the music, but Tiësto’s crowds get crammed in like fuckin’ sardines. B-to-tha-T-to-tha-muthafuckin’-Dubs, Gouryella is the group Ferry formed with Tiësto, just in case y’all missed that memo. Speaking of all that, perhaps I should say a bit about the actual music, hmm? So, considering this motherfucker’s massive fuckin’ catalog, I may very well do a second volume for him at some point in the future. There’s just so fuckin’ much, perverts, I already put myself waaaay behind the comfortable production schedule I’d carved out for myself with the last two editions. Rest fuckin’ assured, however, these are some of my all-time favorite tracks spanning his entire career. I can’t fuckin’ count the number of times I blasted his remix of Oceanlab’s “Clear Blue Water” while driving through the night with all the windows down. Never even fuckin’ mind the Ferry’s Flashover mix of “Fire…” Holy shit on an Egyptian frog, I’ve danced my ass off to that jam.
Right of Way is his first album, and there are lots of great tracks on there, but L.E.F. is the album that really caught my attention. Just banger after banger after fuckin’ banger. The title track is lava as fuck, too. I’d also pick Junk over Punk any day, just ‘cause the hip-hop vocals make it so much hotter. Nothin’ wrong with Punk (which is one of his first and most well-known singles), that’s just how I feel. Also, the track “Whatever!” actually has some sociopolitical commentary, which is quite a rarity in trance music; EDM in general, honestly. As if all that wasn’t enough, Ferry’s concept album called Blueprint… Y’all, I was brought to tears, multiple times, actually. Specifically, Piece of You and Wherever You Are. Those tracks are dropkicks to the heart for me, and I feel so fortunate to be so affected by the wiggly air in them. That album is so awesome, Ferry released four fuckin’ versions of it: 1 with narration, 1 without, 1 with all extended mixes, and 1 with a bunch of remixes of the original tracks. Perverts, I cannot emphatically recommend enough the album Blueprint. That is, if you’re still capable of emotion. If not, I have no idea why you’re even listening to this, or to music in general.
So, all that said, and I’m sure I’ll have more to say whenever I make the second volume of his stuff, and I’ll most definitely be making ASS editions for BT, Venetian Snares, Otto, Doormouse, et-fuckin’-cetera. So, all THAT said, I believe it is now time for the -ment of yojne.
