Hhhhhhow's it goin', perverts?! Welcome to the No One Can Destroy The Metal Edition of pretty much the only fuckin' podcast worth listening to, Monday Morning Aural Fuckin' Sex! This one's the third all metal edition that I've done, and for this one, the volume knob grew a 12 in the utterly ecstatic anticipation. Speaking of which, for those of you who haven't seen the movie Spinal Tap, you really must run, do not walk, to see that one. I'd venture to guess that anyone listening to this particular edition has probably seen that shit already, but whatthefuckever. Oh, and I know a few of you out there might be looking at this track listing and saying something to the effect of, "Ehhh, that band's not metal! Mehhh, my metal's better! Your metal sucks! Your metal isn't even metal 'cause my metal's way more metaller! That, like, makes me a superior person to you, ehhhh!" To those of you who're saying shit like that, yes, you do seriously sound just as fucking imbecilic as I just sounded in that hypothetical imitation of you. Not like you'd ever actually say that shit to me or likely even hear this fuckin' podcast, but I know some of you out there are thinkin' it. But fuck, who am I to tell you what to think? You're gonna think whatever the fuck you want, so I'm basically ranting for no fuckin' reason right now.
Anyway, this one will be like the others in that I won't be speaking beyond this intro so as not to fuck up the deluge of pure fucking osmium we're about to experience. Hey perverts. I'd say good morning, but honestly, I'd be lying. I'm aware there are plenty of good things to be celebrated, but right now, I'm in no mood. Today marks 2 years since a girl many of you know and love dearly, Sunny Rae, ended her life. There really isn't much anyone can do to console those of us who knew her well and especially those of us who were fortunate enough to be in love with her. I imagine her family is probably still greatly hurting over the loss, too. I only really talk to one of her sisters, but she and I both agree that it really doesn't get any less painful, just easier to distract ourselves as life goes on. Amity and Haley, if you're listening, my heart goes out to you and yours today. So, a few weeks ago, I wrote a post on Sunny's Facebook mentioning that I'd compiled about 5 hours worth of songs for this podcast and that I'd try to cut it down. Honestly, I've spent hours subtracting and adding songs here and there, but it still came out to about 5 hours. I don't expect anyone to listen to the whole thing. I probably won't even be able to listen to it all in one sitting. I've separated it into "parts," in an effort to explain the order and the content of the tracks. Hopefully, it'll do just that, and maybe also make it seem less excruciatingly long. I also don't expect anyone to be able to relate to all the songs in the context of their relationship to Sunny. I did try to choose more generally appropriate songs, rather than simply ones from a guy who loved her and wrote her weird poetry and shit. I didn't want this to be all self-indulgent because frankly, I don't want to keep telling our story. I don't want to get to a point where it feels boring even to me, because my memories with her are some of the most beautiful I've ever experienced (and likely will ever experience) and I'll always cherish them. To that end, I've made an effort to exclude more of the particularly significant music that she and I shared with each other. There are still quite a few especially meaningful tracks like that, but because I know there are many people out there who'd say without a doubt that Sunny was the love of their lives, (I'm no exception) I wanted to make something meaningful for both myself and others. Truly, my greatest hope is that anyone listening will be able to hear these songs and have them resonate with them in relation to their experiences with Sunny. Anyway, I've yammered on enough. Uh, yeah, what's up mothafuckin' pizzerverts?! Puhlease allow me to welcome you (actually, I don't give a good Fuck damn if you allow me to or not, 'cause I'm gonna anyway) to Vol. 1 of the Rap Vs. Hip-Hop Edition of Monday Morning Aural Sex! Can ya guess what all we'll be hearing this week? Basically, we'll be hearing tracks that I've differentiated as rap and hip-hop, one after the other and so on. One main reason why I've put this together is 'cause I love both rap AND hip-hop, yet I know that a lot of people who're into rap aren't that into hip-hop at all and vice versa. I'm sure there are good reasons behind all that, but I think almost any type of music can be enjoyed if you're in the proper state of mind. As I explained to one of my peers at Full Sail, while it's true that a lot of rap has insubstantial and shallow lyrics, it all has its place and can certainly be enjoyed especially if you've got something on your mind that you'd rather not think about. A lot of music is great that way, actually. Lots of music keeps you in your head too, and that can be good for intellectual and/or emotional growth, but it's healthy to get out of your fuckin' head and take a breath of fresh air once in a while. Hooooow's it goin', perverts?! Welcome to the New Year's Edition of Monday Morning Aural Sex!
