Monday Morning Aural Sex: 2020-07-06 (No New Theme, Just New Shit Edition)

Happy muthafuckin’ Monday! Welcome to the No New Theme, Just New Shit Edition! As you can tell, I didn’t feel like doing any particular theme this week. It’s just gonna be a bunch of random new shit. I usually try to name these things in some clever and/or thought-provoking way, but I don’t have much to say this week. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I’m out of ideas. I’ve got plenty of awesome editions rattling around in my head. I WAS thinking of doing some anti-4th-of-July thing, but I’ve done that numerous times, and frankly it’s just feeling like well-worn territory at this point. If you don’t know how I feel about that so-called holiday by now, you clearly haven’t been paying enough attention to me or the history of this country. If that’s not enough, the present is pretty fuckin’ awful, too.

 

Anyway, yeah, there are a handful of sociopolitical commentary tracks on here, but it’s mostly just all over the place. These editions typically get ignored, but they’re some of my favorites. If you can’t hang with any of these tracks, you’re probably a basic-ass boring lil bitch. If there’s one you don’t like, fuckin’ skip it! That’s what I do when I’m searchin’ for shit to show you! I usually come up with 40-60 tracks each week, but I also usually go through about 100-150 tracks trying to find those. You think I actually listen to every second of every track I go through? Fuuuuuuck no. I usually skip tracks even faster if I like them, ‘cause I’ll add them to my new podcast playlist and move the fuck on. I’ve got shit to do, muthafuckas!

 

On that note, if you’re a Spotify user and in case you don’t know, they do put together playlists daily and weekly based on the stuff to which you listen. The ones I typically sift through when I do these editions or when I’m just looking for new shit are the Release Radar and Discover Weekly. You would have your own playlists under the same names obviously, and you would probably find a bunch of stuff you’ve never heard of before. Imagine that! Branching out, expanding your horizons! Freaky-ass shit, eh? It’s almost like there’s more music out there than the same 10 tracks you’ve been listening to all your life. I know it’s scary, but in that regard, I can confidently tell you that everything will be alright.
